Descripción

Han pasado 4 años desde que rescatamos a la esposa de Atrus, Catherine, de las garras del no tan malvado Ghen. Riven se destruye y nosotros caemos por la "fisura" que supuestamente nos llevará a casa.

De una forma u otra, más tarde o más temprano, vamos a parar en Tamahna, Edad pacífica en donde vive la pareja escritora (que por cierto tienen una nueva hija). Nos recibe Catherine y nos dice que pasemos al estudio de Atrus y lo esperemos. Bueno, muy bien, vamos allá, leemos libros, tocamos cositas, etc. Luego aparece Atrus y nos cuenta que ha escrito una nueva Edad, llamada Releeshahn, para los D'nis; una Edad estable y sin errores. Sin embargo, cuando estamos a punto de irnos a visitarla, alguien se teletransporta al estudio (usando un libro) y roba Releeshahn. Así que, obviamente tendremos que ir a por él, porque supongo que no esperarán a que Atrus mueva el culo e intente solucionar sus propios problemas.

Así que vamos a parar a J'nanin, una Edad bastante desértica y con poco que ofrecer. Mientras avancemos, nos enteraremos que para recuperar el libro robado por Saavedro, tendremos que buscar tres códigos, escondidos en tres Edades. También veremos que todo esto tiene como objetivo castigar a Atrus por lo que sus hijos (Sirrus y Achenor, que conocimos en Myst 1) le hicieron a su Edad: destruírla, pervertirla. Y encima de todo esto, también mataron a su familia. Así que Saavedro no está particularmente feliz (se nota especialmente en la ridícula ropa que lleva puesta) y decide hacer sufrir a quien cree que es responsable.
