Para que funcione en DOSBox hay que colocar junto al juego el archivo CWSDPMI.EXE.

Se puede jugar directamente en Windows XP, pero sin sonido. Por lo tanto la mejor opción es usar DOSBox teniendo en cuenta el detalle antes apuntado.
